The baby’s parents are from Khammam district of Telangana. The baby’s father, Mr. Anantha Ramaiah works as a Physical Education Teacher (PET) in a private school and earns Rs 12,000/- per month. Mother is a trained ANM but isn’t working currently due to a lack of job opportunities at her native place. Though Ananta Ramaiah and Koteshwari were married six years ago, they did not have children and in September 2024, they were blessed with a baby boy
Their happiness did not last long. After the delivery, the baby appeared healthy. But after a few days, the parents observed that the baby was suffering with impaired breathing and was not taking food. So, they consulted a doctor in Khammam town. The doctor examined the baby and found that the baby’s heart wasn’t pumping enough blood to his body so he urged the parents to consult a specialty hospital urgently. Since the baby was sick, they immediately rushed to Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute in Hyderabad and admitted the baby even though they did not have resources to pay the hospital expenses. After a thorough examination, doctors said that baby had to undergo surgery at the earliest.
Parents approached Pure Little Hearts Foundation for support. After initial counselling and confirming their financial status, PLHF concluded that they needed to be supported with financial aid. At the same time, a pair of compassionate donors approached PLHF and said that they would like to help the underprivileged patients admitted to the hospital. PLHF shared Baby of Koteshwari’s situation to them and they confirmed the support of Rs. 4 lakhs and PLHF also assured to support the remaining treatment cost from Laurus funds.
The baby underwent TAPVC, a critical open-heart surgery on 19th October 2024. After some recovery time, the baby was discharged healthy without complications. Apart from the generous support of the two donors, Rs. 1,20,000 was borne by Laurus Charitable trust and the hospital also provided a discount on the treatment cost. On the day of discharge, the parents thanked donors and medical team from bottom of their hearts and returned home with their baby happily and safely. Now the baby is doing well and the family is enjoying its happy moments with their one and only child. This intervention showcases the profound impact of kindness, the importance of community support, that can make in the lives of those facing financial and medical challenges.
