Shivank, the only child of Shankar and Sujatha, was born with a congenital heart defect in a small rural hospital in Nadhed district, Maharashtra. His parents’ joy quickly turned to despair when doctors informed them of their newborn’s health condition, advising immediate consultation with a cardiologist. With limited resources, Shankar, a farmer earning just Rs. 8,000 per month, and his wife Sujatha, a homemaker, not only struggle to lead their life but also support Shankar’s elderly parents. They got devastated on hearing Shivank’s health condition.
Despite their financial constraints, his parents gathered courage and borrowed money from friends and family to take Shivank to Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute (RCHI) in Hyderabad. After a thorough examination, doctors recommended a life-saving TAPVC surgery. The cost of the surgery, however, was far beyond what the family could afford.
At this juncture, parents approached the Pure Little Hearts Foundation (PLHF) for support. After assessing the family’s financial situation, PLHF offered support with the support of generous donors, additionally, the hospital provided a significant discount, ensuring Shivank’s surgery could proceed.
On September 10, 2024, Shivank underwent successful surgery. The procedure was a success, and within days, Shivank began his recovery and returned home healthy. His parents, Shankar and Sujatha, were overwhelmed with gratitude. They expressed their heartfelt thanks to the donor, doctors, and PLHF, whose support made it possible for Shivank to overcome his congenital heart defect and lead a healthy life.
Thanks to the kindness of donors and the dedication of medical professionals, this young boy now has a chance at a future full of hope.
